Contract signed to bring prestigious medical event to Rancho Mirage, California:

Rancho Mirage, CA – The 47th Annual USC Weil Symposium on Critical Care and Emergency Medicine will be held in Rancho Mirage, California in May, 2009.  The Weil Institute of Critical Care Medicine (WICCM) is proud to announce that a three year contract has been signed with the Westin Mission Hills Resort to bring this world renowned event to the Coachella Valley.

“This is an acknowledgement of the increasing recognition of the Coachella Valley’s medical commitment and its important role in the community” stated Wanchun Tang, MD, President/CEO of the Weil Institute of Critical Care Medicine.  Beginning at USC in Los Angeles, CA, in 1962, the symposium expanded and has been held in Las Vegas since 1975.

The intensive five day program provides a highly respected state-of-the art update to allow physicians and health care professionals to keep pace with rapid changes in the knowledge base, advances in technology, and updated guidelines for management, and addresses administrative and ethical strategies with which to optimize care of the critically ill and injured patient.

The USC Weil Symposium on Critical Care and Emergency Medicine was the first and is still the largest university postgraduate course on acute care.  Internationally renowned experts pinpoint key advances in clinical practices directed to the practices of critical care specialists, emergency physicians, hospitalists, internists, anesthesiologists, cardiologists, pulmonary physicians, infectious disease specialists, nephrologists, traumatologists and general surgeons.

Approximately 1,000 physicians accompanied by their families are expected to attend and take pleasure in all that the Valley has to offer. “Medical meeting’s are highly desirable and the competition between cities to capture the big ones is significantKudos to Dr. Weil for bringing his USC / Weil Symposium to Rancho Mirage.  After 31 years in Las Vegas this highly respected and well attended annual meeting is a big catch for the heart of the Palm Springs Valley”, stated Robert Barrett-Marketing Manager for the City of Rancho Mirage. The proximity of the Weil Institute of Critical Care Medicine to the Westin Mission Hills Resort is an ideal partnership for the benefit of all attendees and guest lecturers. The Institute staff, The University of Southern California as well as participating representatives of Eisenhower Medical Center have begun preparation for this prestigious event.
